The Pro Guide's choice of a head unit car audio
Ideally, your head unit would be used to provide a signal your amplifiers that is line level and you would not use its internal amplifiers (if any). They generally do not power and strength to drive speakers both strong and clean. The line level signal is cleaner than the output level of speaker on the head because it does not by the internal amplifiers of the head unit. That said there are situations where you could use the energy unit's internal head.
No head unit typically has more than about 60watts of total output power because more would require a DC-DC real (which does not fit into a head unit easily). According to Car Audio and Electronics magazine, most head units use the same chips for internal amplifiers so they produce about the same low power.
Things to look for:
Usability: Your head unit is part of the unit that you interact with most so it is essential to get one that "feels" comfortable for you. Always look for a head unit in a Store Display and use it for some time. Try to browse radio stations and tracks on a CD to see if it is quick and easy. If you have problems with small buttons, imagine what it will be like when you drive! Like most models in the same prices are similar in functionality and sound quality, ease of use is often the deciding factor between models.
Power: Even if I just said not to use high-power of a head of unit I know sometimes it is inevitable. Keep in mind that power specifications given by most manufacturers for head units are not accurate. They often use terms such as energy music "or" peak power "which have little real meaning because there is no standard definition of these terms. If the power is quoted in " RMS "terms then it is usually valid. However, there is yet another area of misunderstanding. Often manufacturers will quote power as" 30watts X 4 RMS. "The" RMS "seems to mean that he is a true indication of power, but they are implying that all 4 channels can produce 30watts RMS at a time. With a head unit is almost always false. Because of diet in managing small units, they can rarely total production of over 15-60 watts. This means that the power to each channel at maximum load would be 1 / 4 of that total. Some manufacturers are better than others to give the correct specifications and a few models are available with sophisticated power supplies which have a greater power, but they are very expensive. If you pay less than $ 800 for a head unit (and most of us!), Your car will not be put to much power. I wrote a more detailed explanation of Power Amplifier specifications too. Speakers who do not produce low does not draw as much power as you can get out with the help of the head unit to power them but use passive high pass filters (bass blockers) and they will play louder and cleaner. Keep in mind that the distortion may be higher in the head unit than an external amp however.
preamp outputs: There is a certain for any serious head unit. These outputs allow you to run an amplifier directly without needing a conversion. It is typical output from the head unit. Some units have multiple outputs and sometimes those who are crossed. Try to find the quantity and the type you need for your system, but keep in mind for future improvements. It is sufficient, but that is the only way we fade, or adjust the levels of multiple amplifiers right from the head unit. Some head units now offer 4 volt outputs instead of usual 1-2 volts. This can be very beneficial since cars much electrical noise in them. The output 4 volts is less sensitive to noise, however, you must be sure the amplifier or filter is connected to the output can handle 4 volts or you will not be able to use the additional tension. If your receiver does not have pre-amp level (RCA), buy an adapter that will convert your output speaker level to line level.
Car Audio Head Unit Power!
Car Stereo Power Unit head is very disappointing! Head units all powers on the huge boxes or right on the front of the units! The head unit higher power that I never really tested was 13 watts (halfway decent THD) ... So even if the unit head said 35Watt or 40 watts per channel on him never wait for it is actually over 15! It is simply not possible.
The amplifier can produce energy far more by channel as the car head unit. Why not do a head unit to generate this kind of power??? The transformer converts the 12 volt battery the car in a much higher voltage (in this case 36 volts and-36volts)? Since the unit of your car does not have a transformer to raise the tension (not enough room in it) the head unit can not limp along trying to make a lot of power with 12 volt car miserable. More units with high energy consumption which the head of an exit bridge (also called floating ground or push-pull), the leading units use an integrated circuit chip that makes the son of speakers each speaker work with one pushing while the other draws (so to speak) just like a real amplifier when you do fill. But unlike a real amplifier, most units of your car can not be without decks. But even still, having no transformer unit head and it severely limits your output will be around 12 to 13 watt speaker dr. Do not fall into the High Power lies.
