The Great Unsung Heroes Of Classic Rock

Classic rock is a term used interchangeably to describe albums released between the early and late By 70 artists who have become legendary and so "classic".

Most of these albums / artists were very original and which become influential bands of many others for generations to come. No matter what time you were born since the band in almost all years 70 listening was influenced by artists and groups of that time. So even if you're only in your teens and you will find favorite sounds band "completely original", you can bet your last dollar they have been influenced by someone from that era (even if they do not even know it!)

The seventies was a great era for music because it was truly a ground breaking time for the original music. Nothing has been copied, or reheated, each had its own sound, although, as always in music, 70s was a continuation and evolution of the music of the 60s, but she matured further in the 70s.

Bands and artists such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Free, Allman Brothers, Queen, Black Sabbath, Cream, David Bowie, Status Quo are all examples of acts which made their debut in the 60s, but have found their sound and style in the 70s, and therefore gave rise to bands of many others who then added their own flavor to these styles.

Lesser known groups like Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, Grand Funk Railroad, Scorpions (which became large enough in the 80s), and Thin Lizzy is noteworthy, but would not necessarily be known as legends, or other acts such as Queen became absolutely huge and remains to this day.

It is the same "guitar heroes". Almost every guitarist any age heard or listened to Hendrix, Clapton. Jimmy Page, etc., but there are other extremely talented guitarists and most influential are less well known which should be in a legend too. Here are two examples Richie Blackmore of Deep Purple and Michael Schenker of UFO. You will find few modern players such that Kirk Hammet and Dimebag Darrel have been heavily influenced by Michael Schenker, Schenker, but has not really reached "God like" status that such some of his contemporaries like Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton.

I could go on for hours of classic rock and there are hundreds of excellent albums that are still available today (and some deleted fine) but some songs and album rates a special mention for their guitar prowess and worth the time to have at least a quick listen.

Here's a quick list or lesser known gems of genius of classical music that deserve Listening:

Deep Purple:

Choose album: Made in Japan and Deep Purple in Rock
Songs: Highway Star, Child in Time.
Among the most blistering guitar work you will ever hear recorded in the early 70s and has held the Guinness Book of Records as the title highest recording ever made!

UFO:
Guitarist: Michael Schenker.
Choice Albums: Phenomenon and Force It.
Songs: Rock Bottom
One of the most exciting solos and dynamic ever, it was about 18 at the time!

FREE: (more later to become "bad company" another act of good!)

Album: Best of Free.
Songs: All Right Now, fire and water. Mr. Big [Live]
Slow and simplistic style excellent natural tone, while feeling! A Les Paul plugged directly into a marshal, no pedals and no tricks.

Wishbone Ash:
Guitarists: Andy Powell & Ted Turner.
Choice album: Argus and There's The Rub.
Excellent melody and harmony twin lead breaks, copied by many acts since! Very complex arrangements

I know I missed many other guitarists and groups here, but the idea is to give an idea of the quantity of unearthed GEMS 'there to be heard outside the obvious legends!
